TXTguides work on over 80 per cent of all Java™ enabled handsets, but we cannot guarantee that they will work on your particular model.
Handset Compatibility List
Can I store more than one TXTguides book on my phone?
Yes. Providing you have enough memory capacity on your phone, you can save the entire library of TXTguides if you wish. This means that you can carry all the titles necessary to cover the most extensive linked ski areas.
What other resorts will Ski-Ride be covering?
We are currently compiling Ski-Ride guides covering all of the resorts in the Three Valleys, and by next season we plan to have titles covering the entire Italian/French Milky Way domain published too. Next winter we will be researching the Paradiski domain.
Why don’t TXTguides include piste maps and images?
Mobile phone display screens are generally very small, and there are hundreds of variations in screen size/resolution on many different models, all requiring separate image files. Therefore, we decided to keep TXTguides text-based; that way, they work on most handsets, are quick to download and take up very little memory space on your phone.
I’ve received your link text, but I can’t click the link. How do I make it work?
Not all handsets/networks permit clickable links on SMS messages. You may need to use one of your Menu Options to open a command such as Open, Cut Address, Go, Go To, Use Address, Link, or something similar. If none of these work, you may have to manually type the link address into your mobile web browser (usually via the Go To URL command).
I’m already in resort, can I download TXTguides here?
Yes; in exactly the same ways as if you were at home.
NB: our short-code SMS link service works in most countries, but only operates for mobiles registered with UK-based networks.
ANDORRA RESTRICTIONS: the Andorran telecoms provider (STA/Mobiland) does not currently offer mobile data download services; TXTguides are accessible in Andorra via computer download and Bluetooth transfer only.
It’s best to download and install TXTguides before you travel to Andorra.
What if I can’t get a signal in the mountains?
Once you’ve installed and saved TXTguides on your mobile, you don’t need to have a network signal in order to use them. You can open and read them anytime, anywhere, FREE-OF-CHARGE: you can even read them on tube trains and all the way through the channel tunnel; if your handset has a special Flight Mode setting, you can read them whilst on aircraft too
(CAUTION: airline regulations vary, please check with cabin staff first).
How much will I be charged to use TXTguides overseas?
TXTguides can be used anywhere in the world FREE-OF-CHARGE.
NB: your network provider may charge you extra for data transfer when roaming if you download new titles or update those you already have.
How up-to-date are TXTguides?
New editions of all TXTguides titles are published each month during the winter season: updates include any new features and/or corrections.
